I really like it when we make homemade pizza. It’s tasty and inexpensive but I really like how everyone can get involved.

The last time we made homemade pizza I thought that it would be great if everyone helped out. I showed “A” how to roll out the pizza dough. She loved doing it and she even thought her’s tasted better. “E” helped put on the cheese and pepperoni. He had so much fun. He might be ruined for pepperoni though. He tried one as he was decorating the pizza and didn’t like it. Maybe a bit too spicy? “G” was busy with something, I can’t remember, but homemade pizza night it always a hit with him. It’s a meal the entire family enjoys.

I make my own pizza dough from scratch (thank you Laura from Real Mom Kitchen). You can go here to get the recipe. I also make my own sauce (again, thank you Laura from Real Mom Kitchen). I’ve only slightly modified the recipe for the sauce. The original recipe is perfectly wonderful. I just tweaked some of the spices to our taste.  You can find the original here. My version of the recipe is below.

Pizza Sauce

1 (14 1/2 oz) can diced tomatoes (I like to use the ones that have extra seasoning like Garlic & Basil)
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp basil
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 Tbsp sugar

Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until reaches desired consistency.

This makes enough sauce for 2 12-inch pizzas and have plenty left over. You could make more pizzas or use it for something else. I have another recipe to share soon where you could use some of those leftovers 😉

Seriously, if you haven’t already popped over to Real Mom Kitchen, head over there already! I have tried several of her recipes and they all have been tasty. She’s one of my go-to spots for recipes when I’m looking for something new.

Enjoy!
