I know I’ve mentioned before that I am part of a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. I joined when I was pregnant with Baby E. My husband knew the leader at the time (she went to our church) and had chatted with her during one of G’s indoor soccer classes. After that, he highly encouraged me to get off my butt and head on over to a meeting. I was pretty nervous about just showing up to a meeting with people that I didn’t know, but after much nagging (I think it took a month) I took the plunge and showed up at a meeting.
It was wonderful. We ate an awesome breakfast, listened to a devotional, and made a craft. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Needless to say, I kept coming back! 🙂
These wonderful women have helped me settle into a major life change. I had lost my job and found out I was pregnant (probably within the same week). That’s a lot of change to take on in such a short amount of time.
I love that I have a group of women to call friends. We have play dates and Mom’s Night Outs. I would trust any of them with my children with no worries. They’ve helped me calm down when I locked myself and Baby E out of the house (even fed me breakfast). I know that if I ever needed a shoulder to cry on or moral support for any stressful event, they would be there.
Here I was feeling like a failure because our recent Mom to Mom sale didn’t do as well as we hoped, and they gave me flowers at our last meeting as a thank you for all my work. Aren’t they beautiful? They are in my kitchen and brighten my day every time I see them.
If you are a mother of a preschooler (or even a soon-to-be mom), here’s me highly encouraging you to consider joining a MOPS group near you.
We are thankful you took the plunge!
